This full day tour shows you the remarkable animal reserve of Peninsula Valdés. The peninsula covers an area of 3,625km² and is connected to the Chubut province by a narrow isthmus. Due to its geographical position, it has its own macroclimate and thus a fascinating variety of animals to watch. Every year the Southern Right whales appear from June to mid-December to give birth. During this time there are optional boat tours to observe them at short distance. But also during the other seasons you may watch a lot of animals. Optional boat tours to the sea lion colony are offered from mid-December to June. At Punta Delgada you find one of the few places where the huge sea elephants give birth on the land. The animals, lying around on the beach, are quite easy to observe. The visitors are allowed to go quite near. On the way back you may discover more animals such as owls, guanacos, ñandúes (South American ostrich), maras, (Patagonian rabbits), and being lucky you will even be able to see grey foxes. |
