El Pilar
El Pilar is a traditional estancia of the area, which was transformed into a small but pleasant hotel. The former living-room is the restaurant today. A fireplace gives a cozy atmosphere and it is the place where everybody meets in the evening. The hotel has 10 simple but pleasant rooms. El Pilar lies at the foot of the Fitz Roy Mountain range and 15 Km from El Chaltén on the way to the Desert Lagoon (Laguna del Desierto). It is the starting point for different trekking tours. A shuttle service to El Chaltén is organized once a day. Its owner manages the hotel.
