Winery

The Argentine wine industry is the fifth largest producer of wine in the world and nearly its three-fourths is produced in the province of  Mendoza. The first European settlers coming from Spain and Portugal to South America started with wine growing and production. Mendoza is a semi-arid region, but with the help of an irrigation-system, wine can grow in this region. The majority of the vineyards are found in the Maipú and Luján departments. In 1993, the Mendoza sub-region of Luján de Cuyo, was the first controlled appellation established in Mendoza. Other notable sub-regions include the Uco Valley and the Tupungato department. First, red table wines which had hardly any export opportunities, were produced. Nowadays, they are aiming at producing quality wines and so increasing the export. The cultivated red grapes are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrac and Bonarda. In white wines the leader is the Chardonnay grape, followed by the Sauvignon Blanc. More than 600 winegrowing companies are located in the surroundings of Mendoza.

During this tour you will visit two different wineries and like this you will gain a profound insight on this business as you will be guided through the cellars to enjoy degustations.
