The market is not only an attraction of Buenos Aires but of the whole of Argentina; it is as going to the countryside just forty-five minutes away from the city. It is a great show, where you can find an average of 10,000 animals of the best bovine livestock breeds for meat, gathered in stockyards for their later sale in public auctions. This is something really interesting to visitors. As one worldwide known attraction of Argentina is its meat, everything about it will be known at the market. The tour is carried out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:15 A.M. The groups are private and they go with a Spanish speaking guide who is specialized in cattle raising. Things to be seen:Cattle coming from the Humid Pampas (Province of Buenos Aires), south of Santa Fé and south of Entre Ríos - Rodeo of cattle taken into the stockyards and trucks - Weighing of the already sold animals on cattle scales. We will be able to enter a scale's booth. As the main attraction, we will see and participate at the auctions of the most important consignees (commissioners) of the market – cattle coming under a hammer by alive kilo, unique in the world. |
