Fiesta Gaucha
|
|
Argentina is the country of gauchos and herds of cattle – nowadays, the economy of Argentina is based on the raising of these herds and with 55 million, there are almost twice as many heads of cattle as people! Buenos Aires is located on the “Pampa”, the fertile plain of the central and eastern part of the country. In this area you find the largest estancias (farms) and this excursion is an excellent opportunity to get in touch with the gauchos, the traditional music and dances of the area. You leave Buenos Aires in the morning and after approximately one hour and a half or two hours (depending on the estancia) you arrive and are welcomed with typical “empanadas” (meat pie snacks). You can stroll around the farm, have a look at the horses – even ride them – or jaunt in a carriage and watch the gauchos preparing your barbecue. After a typical lunch of different cuts of meat and tripe with a variety of salads, all washed down with wine, beer, mineral water, soft drinks and coffee, you are entertained with traditional music, dances of the “Pampa”, and the gauchos’ display of horsemanship – for which you have ringside seats. After a relaxing day at the ranch, you return to Buenos Aires. |
