Day 01 |
Transfer from the airport to El Calafate. Rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy a walk along the lake or visit the busy main street of the town. Overnight at El Calafate. |
Day 02 |
One of the big highlights on a trip to southern Patagonia is certainly the visit to the famous Perito Moreno glacier. It lies about 80km from El Calafate. The tour goes first through typical Patagonian steppe till reaching the mountains. Here the climate changes frequently and there can be rain or even snow. But the experience of the glacier is always the same: impressive. The deep blue colour is amazing. Big pieces of ice constantly fall into the lake and keep the eyes spellbound. Day 03 |
The second big attraction of El Calafate is the big Upsala glacier. Punta Banderas is the starting point of the navigation along the north part of the Argentino Lake. Suddenly huge icebergs appear and it feels like in the Antarctic. The boat stops at a safe distance from the glacier for observation. The tour continues to Bahia Onelli where a short walk through the forest allows to see even more glaciers. Afternoon navigation back to Punta Banderas. Overnight at El Calafate. |
Day 04 |
By bus, a four-hour journey through Patagonian steppe takes you to El Chaltén. This is the walkers' paradise at the food of the Fity Roy Mountain. Afternoon trekking to Cerro Torre. A nice path leads through the forest. It is an easy walk to a beautiful lagoon. Great view of the Mount Torre can be appreciated. Overnight at El Chaltén. |
Day 05 |
A more difficult trekking tour leads to the Laguna de los Tres. The village of El Chaltén with a first steep ascent is the starting point. Soon the Fity Roy Mountain appears. Then walk through the forest till Rio Blanco. Here, a steep climb up the mountain starts, but once on the top, a superb view over the lagoon and the majestic Fity Roy Mountain can be appreciated. Overnight at El Chaltén. |
Day 06 |
Transfer to the airport of El Calafate and continuation with your individual programme. |
