Climate

You must remember that Argentina is in the southern hemisphere. The seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere. The climate ranges from sub-tropical in the North to always-cold temperature in Tierra del Fuego, but it is temperate in the densely populated central zone. From mid-December to the end of February it is summer and Buenos Aires can be oppressively hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 27 to 35ºC and an average humidity of 70%. January and especially February is the raining season for the northwest of the country. October to April is the main tourism season for Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Long daylight hours give a certain advantage for planning a trip during that time. Spring weather (September to November) is often very pleasant and a perfect time for combining the sub-tropical North with the far South. Autumn (March to mid-May) is mild in general and less windy in Patagonia. The winter months are June, July, and August. This is the best time to visit the North and Northwest as the rain is less frequent and the sub-tropical temperature drops a few degrees. The skiing season in Bariloche, Las Leñas or Ushuaia goes from early mid-June to mid-September.
